Rainbow Wise

Ensuring all LGBTQ+ children and young people feel safe, seen and supported.

Welcome to Rainbow Wise – the home of affordable, accessible LGBTQ+ inclusion training for schools, colleges, and professionals working with children and young people.

We believe every child and young person deserves to grow up in an environment where they are celebrated, respected, and supported for who they are. At Rainbow Wise, we provide practical, down-to-earth training and resources for people who work with children that helps create inclusive, affirming spaces for all young people regardless of their gender or sexuality.

What we offer

Our school-focused sessions are tailored to meet the needs of teachers, support staff, leadership teams and governors. We’ll help you build a whole-school approach to LGBTQ+ inclusion that’s realistic, age-appropriate and rooted in everyday practice.

For those working in health, youth services, and social care, our professional training offers practical advice, up-to-date information and space for reflection, helping you feel confident in your role supporting LGBTQ+ children and young people.

“Rainbow Wise is hands down one of the most engaging and thoughtfully designed online programmes I’ve come across for school staff.

As someone with ADHD, I really appreciate the variety of question types and the ability to dip in and out in bite-sized chunks as it keeps me focused and motivated. The quizzing for retrieval is especially brilliant and the regional accents make it feel personal and relatable. The content is perfectly pitched; clear, concise, and never overwhelming. I’m feeling more confident navigating language associated with gender and sexuality. I’ve already noticed myself correcting my own language with colleagues, which makes me feel well-informed and proud.

A standout moment for me in the training was the explanation of gender identity as it helped me feel safer discussing the topic with my teenage daughter, who actually said it was ‘cool’ I was doing this. That alone made the course worth it. I recommend the programme for educators everywhere who want to support pupils and colleagues from the LGBTQ+ community to be safe at school.”

FAQ's

Who is your training for?

Our training is designed for anyone working with children and young people, including teachers, school staff, youth workers, early years professionals, social workers, healthcare professionals and more. Whether you’re in a school setting, other organisation or work independently, one of our trainings will be a fit for you.

Do I need any prior knowledge about LGBTQ+ inclusion?

Not at all. Our training meets you where you are. Whether you’re completely new to this or looking to build on existing knowledge, we create a space that’s non-judgemental, practical and easy to follow.

Is your training suitable for whole teams or just individuals?

Both. Individuals can take the training for professionals at any time.

We also have a schools training where entire school teams can be onboarded and monitored as a group, progress data can be downloaded for reporting and – once 90% of your school team has completed the training – you will received the Schools Rainbow Wise Certificate.

Will this training be suitable for my situation or setting?

We know that every setting is different. This is why we have two versions of our training – one for schools and colleges and one for other youth professionals.

How much does it cost?

We believe cost shouldn’t be a barrier. That’s why we keep our pricing affordable and transparent. Individuals can purchase the professionals training for £45 (Inc VAT).

The cost of the schools training varies depending on the size of the school team. More information can be found on the schools page here.

Is this relevant if we don’t currently have any LGBTQ+ students or service users?

Spoiler alert, you probably do. One in ten young people identify as LGBTQ+, whether they’re out or not. But this isn’t just about LGBTQ+ young people. Many young people come from LGBTQ+ families and all children and young people are growing up in a world where identities are increasingly diverse.

It’s up to us to equip them for it. That is why we have created Rainbow Wise.
